The Weathersby Family: An HDFN Story

HDFN is caused when the blood types of the mother and the fetus are incompatible; as a result, the mother develops antibodies that attack her unborn baby’s red blood cells. If left untreated, this can cause severe anemia in the baby, leading to organ failure and death.

Working with our partners at JnJ, our goal was to illustrate and explain the impact of an HDFN diagnosis through one family’s experience. My partners at DCOY Studios and I were given the distinct privilege of capturing the latest chapter in the life of Bethany Weathersby and her family.
